Dear friends,
I have been thinking a lot about the love of God lately and what it means for me.
The beauty of the love of God is that there is nothing that you have to do to earn it so therefore you can live a guilt free life instead of striving to earn something that has already been freely given to you!
One of my favourite songs at the moment says:
A love never ending, unfailing and gracious in all it’s ways, you humbled yourself when you took my place, although I’m a sinner I’m saved
This loves overwhelming revealed at the cross in one selfless act you love me despite all my brokenness although I’m a sinner I’m saved
Amazing! He loves me DESPITE all my brokenness and garbage. And like it says, this love IS overwhelming! What an act of pure love that was revealed to us at the cross. I now love because he first loved me!
It’s out of a response to his love towards me that I am able to take love out into the world.
“love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:17-19
